Inventory Management

How does Intrepid Ag Solutions monitor and manage the inventory that is housed within its distribution centers?

A first-class warehouse management system (WMS) has been implemented at each distribution center.  Customers have access via the Internet to view their inventory and its location within the distribution centers.  Intrepid Ag Solutions’ WMS only allows inventory to be visible to those authorized by the customer.

How does Intrepid Ag Solutions address capacity constraints?

We believe that the square footage of our distribution centers is adequate to manage current inventory plus anticipated future growth.  However, we closely monitor our space, and if a capacity issue appears imminent, we will immediately map out a supply plan with each customer before product is received into the distribution center. This process will allow us to maximize our capacity and prevent us from incurring any constraints.

Does the ceiling height at Intrepid Ag Solutions’ distribution centers allow for three-high stacking if necessary?

Yes, each of our distribution centers were selected with ceiling height in mind, and storing three high (when desired) is not an issue.

Does Intrepid Ag Solutions have shrink wrap capabilities?

Yes, all distribution centers are equipped with automatic shrink wrappers for high-volume packaging needs.

Who owns customer inventory when under a 3PL agreement?

The inventory remains the property of the customer just as it would under any other public warehouse agreement.

What are the advantages of Intrepid Ag Solutions’ Warehouse Management System (WMS)?

  • WMS uses barcoding technology which enables better inventory management and inventory tracking from our distribution centers.
  • It allows for first-in, first-out (FIFO) inventory rotation and tracking by receipt dates, expiration dates, and lot numbers.
  • Scanning products is more accurate and efficient than manually inputting data into the system.
  • Each stock keeping unit (SKU) is scanned and tracked both internally (distribution centers to retail locations) and on outbound shipments (to customers)
  • Cycle counts are easier to maintain.
  • Data is accessed much faster and with better visibility.
  • Customers have access via the Internet to view their inventory and its location within the distribution center.
  • Ultimately, product flow will be able to be tracked from the manufacturer through the distribution channel to growers, then analytical data will be pushed back up the channel to optimize product offerings and agronomic recommendations.
